Our focus on safety never stands stillWatch our video
We’ve spent 30 years preparing for your expedition and our focus on safety never stands still. We’re proud of an investment of $850,000 over the last 3 years in the continued development of our industry-leading operational support for teams in the field, and in our preparation before teams even set foot on the plane. There’s a lot to talk about. Our depth of provision is what sets us apart. The key pillars of our approach are below, so please, watch our safety video and even drop by our office to see for yourself.
Safety and Support
Our industry-leading Operations Centre with integrated technology puts all of our medical and support networks at the touch of a button. Working in partnership with International SOS, we can put our teams in a direct conference call with multilingual doctors who are on standby. Speed of response during an incident is vital and our bespoke incident management software gives us fast access to information about our teams, their itineraries and the support networks around them. Communication is key, that is why every team carries an emergency beacon, smartphone and satellite technology to reach us by any means. Our Operations Centre is staffed with a dedicated, full-time team trained in incident management.
We don’t leave things to chance – round the clock government and private security advice informs all our planning. We have developed a unique auditing system to monitor the safety and professionalism of all of our in-country partners; it’s used to continually screen all pre-booked transport, accommodation and activities. Things change, so to make sure we stay informed we conduct recces of our technical activities, such as trekking and white water rafting, and use a live feed from our Expedition Leaders in the field.
We always work in line with the latest advice from the US Department of State and recommend you also keep yourself informed. Check the links below regularly for the latest travel advice and for information about security, local laws, passport and visa information, so you understand how things differ from home. We recommend you visit the Center for Disease Control and Prevention for up-to-date advice on staying safe and healthy abroad. You will need to research vaccinations and medical requirements for your destination and visit a travel health clinic before you go. Don’t worry, we’ll be prompting you all the way but feel it’s important you have access to impartial information.
