Explore Peru

Prepare for Peru to take your breath away and not just because of its elevation. Peru’s fascinating cultural history, the friendliness of its people, stunning scenery and outstanding trekking opportunities make it an extremely popular destination.

With such a diverse range of areas to discover, our Peru expedition options explore either the incredible pre-Inca ruins and Andes mountains of the north, or Colca Canyon, Machu Picchu and the many Inca sites of the south. Peru also boasts a fascinating cultural heritage. The Quechua and Aymara are the largest tribes and in more remote areas team members will have the chance to see how some communities have maintained their traditional customs and language.

Climb high in the Andes

Let the altitude and some seriously spectacular scenery take your breath away as you experience the Andes trekking in the Cordillera Blanca. The ‘white mountain range’ won’t disappoint, with memories made of endless stretches of snow capped peaks and wild camping under the stars.

Listen to jungle beats

Wind your way down the Amazon River on a cargo boat, sling your hammocks in the open air up on deck with sounds of the jungle singing you to sleep. Watch the daily life of jungle communities at the rivers edge and keep your eyes open for everything from monkeys to manatees.

Uncover legends of Machu Picchu

One of the seven wonders of the world, this magnificent Incan citadel was built without any iron tools or the aid of wheels to transport rocks that weighed up to 50 tons each. No mortar was used in it’s construction, each rock was chiseled to fit perfectly, such incredible craftsmanship that some of the ruins still stand today. Spend time at this ancient icon to discover ‘the lost city’ of the Incan Empire.

See one of the world’s highest waterfalls

Hike through the cloudforest and you can’t fail to stumble across the impressive Gocta waterfalls. Standing at 711m tall, there are two major drops creating a cloud of water at it’s base. Supposedly protected by a white-haired mermaid, there is something spiritual about the magnificence of this hidden natural gem.
