Project Independence
Independent trips for those brave enough to take the road less travelled with a group of like-minded friends.
The project independence team is made up of students from all over the country excited to take the adventure of a lifetime. Running independently of school, you’ll get all the benefits of the training, support and safety of a World Challenge experience with a ready-made team of like-minded young travellers who you’ll get to know in the build up to the trip ahead. Each year, we hand select a list of the very best destinations and have (limited) spots available for those brave young souls ready to take up the challenge. All that’s left to do is choose your destination, sign up and put the dates in your diary.

Your school trip to Malaysia awaits
Lush, tropical, and teeming with wildlife, Malaysia sits at the heart of Southeast Asia, offering a thrilling mix of nature, culture, and adventure. Its rainforests are some of the oldest on Earth, its cities pulse with life, and its long coastline is lined with idyllic beaches and shimmering islands. This overseas school trip is your opportunity to explore one of the world’s most diverse and dynamic destinations.
Hit the famous hawker centres and dive into the incredible food scene, dim sum for breakfast, steaming noodle soup for lunch, and fragrant Malay curry for dinner. On this student adventure, trek into the highlands, test your teamwork in the jungle, or experience indigenous life firsthand and meet all 18 tribes firsthand, each with its own language and cultural traditions.
This school expedition is more than just an adventure, it’s a chance to experience the mega landscape diversity, people, and traditions. Step beyond the tourist trail, embrace new challenges, and gain a deeper appreciation for a country where history, modernity, and nature coexist in perfect harmony. Are you ready for the journey of a lifetime?
“ The turtle conservation project was absolutely amazing. Patrolling the beaches at night, collecting eggs as the mother turtle is laying them and releasing baby hatchlings into the sea is something I will never forget!”
