Project Independence
Independent trips for those brave enough to take the road less travelled with a group of like-minded friends.
The project independence team is made up of students from all over the country excited to take the adventure of a lifetime. Running independently of school, you’ll get all the benefits of the training, support and safety of a World Challenge experience with a ready-made team of like-minded young travellers who you’ll get to know in the build up to the trip ahead. Each year, we hand select a list of the very best destinations and have (limited) spots available for those brave young souls ready to take up the challenge. All that’s left to do is choose your destination, sign up and put the dates in your diary.

Your school trip to Ecuador awaits
Sitting right on the equator, Ecuador (the name says it all!) is a small but outrageously beautiful country in northwest South America, brimming with culture and adventure. This overseas school trip takes you from the depths of the Amazon rainforest to the heights of the Andes, and from bustling city streets to secret mountain villages that few tourists ever see.
Buy a Panama hat, lace up your boots, and head into the unknown. Explore the jungle, discover ancient Inca ruins, and watch graceful condors soaring overhead. Trek beneath snow-capped peaks, meet indigenous Andean communities, and experience their unique traditions. If the Pacific coast calls, spot humpback whales breaching in the waves.
This school expedition is more than just a trip, it’s an opportunity to step outside your comfort zone, embrace new cultures, and experience some of the most diverse landscapes on Earth. Are you ready for an unforgettable journey?
“ We had the most amazing time volunteering at a school in Puerto Lopez, teaching the children games and songs. The clapping game, 'a sailor went to sea sea sea', was a particular favourite!”
