This eight-day school expedition through Greece blends legendary landscapes with real challenge, from trekking the slopes and peaks of Mount Olympus to taking part in conservation work that helps protect this iconic environment. You’ll hike forested trails, dramatic gorges and alpine ridgelines before heading to Meteora, where ancient monasteries cling to towering rock pillars and hiking routes reveal unforgettable views. The journey finishes in Thessaloniki, soaking up the culture, markets and history of one of Greece’s most vibrant cities. You’ll return home stronger, more confident and connected, shaped by teamwork, shared achievement and time spent in some of the country’s most powerful settings.

Day 1Arrive in Thessaloniki

Touch down in Thessaloniki, stretch your legs and catch a train to Litochoro, a picturesque town at the foot of Mount Olympus. You’ve made it to Greece, where myth and mountain meet. Once you’ve dropped off your luggage, take some time to rest after your journey, an unforgettable adventure awaits. You’re about to wander through the rich tapestry of history, nature, and culture you’ve always dreamed about. Ancient trails, mountain legends, and coastal views, they’re all here ready to be discovered.
Day 2Hike Mount Olympus
Thessaly
Head into the lower slopes of Mount Olympus and meet the team leading the efforts to preserve this legendary landscape. Begin your journey with a scenic hike through forested trails, soaking up views of Greece’s most iconic mountain. Along the way, get involved in a hands-on conservation initiative focused on maintaining and cleaning trails to protect the environment and ensure safe passage for future hikers. Learn directly from local NGO members about their mission, the importance of responsible tourism, and how communities are working together to protect the mountain’s delicate ecosystems. Enjoy lunch with the group, share stories, and reflect on your experience. Later, head back to your accomodation and get a good night’s rest, more adventures await.
Day 3Hike Skolio Peak
Christaki
Wake up before sunrise and travel to Christaki, your starting point for the hike to Skolio, the second-highest peak of Mount Olympus. Begin your ascent through rugged alpine terrain, surrounded by fresh mountain air and breathtaking scenery. At the summit, take in sweeping views across the Greek landscape, a well-earned reward for your climb. After soaking in the moment, begin your descent and return to Litochoro. Spend the evening exploring this charming mountain village, perhaps picking up some local treats or souvenirs. Grab a hearty meal and get a good night’s rest, another exciting trek awaits you tomorrow.
Day 4Golna & Deli Trek
Litochoro
Begin your hike in the heart of Litochoro, strolling through its charming cobbled streets and traditional houses before reaching the edge of a lush pine forest. Breathe in the fresh mountain air as your trail leads you upwards to Golna, a scenic viewpoint offering sweeping vistas of the Enipeas Gorge and surrounding peaks. Pause to rest, hydrate, and take in the beauty, then continue through the quiet forest trails toward Deli. After reaching this tranquil spot, follow a winding dirt road that guides you gently back to Litochoro. With the hike complete, spend the rest of your day exploring more of the village; visit local bakeries, chat with residents, or simply unwind and reflect with views of Mount Olympus in the background.
Days 5-6Meteora Adventure
Meteora
Grab a quick breakfast before setting off for your Meteora adventure. Marvel at the jaw-dropping rock formations and centuries-old monasteries perched high above the valley floor. After soaking in the scenery, enjoy a free afternoon to explore. Choose to visit the Natural History Museum of Meteora, wander through local artisan shops, or relax in a traditional café. The next day, lace up your hiking boots and start your trek from St. Nicolas Monastery in Kastraki. Walk through forest trails to the hidden Monastery of Ypapanti and the ruins of St. Dimitrios. Ascend toward the iconic Varlaam and Great Meteoro monasteries before following the ancient monks’ path down past St. George Madilas cave.
Day 7Thessaloniki Culture

Wake up in Thessaloniki and start your day with a cultural walking tour through one of Greece’s most vibrant cities. Wander through bustling markets brimming with fresh produce, aromatic spices, and traditional local goods. Visit some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including the White Tower, Aristotelous Square, and the fascinating Archaeological Museum. Each stop offers a glimpse into Thessaloniki’s rich history and cultural heritage. As the day winds down, relax at a local café or stroll along the waterfront promenade. Soak in the energy and charm of this dynamic city and reflect on the stories, flavours, and beauty experienced throughout your journey.
Day 8Travel Home from Thessaloniki

All too soon, it’s time to say goodbye to Greece. Pack your backpack one last time and head out from Thessaloniki. As the plane lifts off, glance down at the vibrant streets, ancient ruins, and towering peaks that have defined your adventure. Think about the friends you’ve made, the stories you’ve gathered, and the lessons you’ve learned along the way. These moments will stay with you, influencing how you see the world and how you move through it. You’re heading home with new perspectives, deeper connections, and a spark that only travel can ignite. Prepare to return home forever changed.
