Who we are
Proud of our peopleGet in touch
We were born in a rural village in the distant snow-capped mountains of Pakistan. Back in 1985 a young army captain took a team of soldiers overseas on a training mission in the remote Hindu Kush range. It wasn’t long before he realized that the personal development and camaraderie learned there would shape them all for years to come. He brought the blueprint back and World Challenge was born, founding the schools expedition industry.
Whether it’s about finding perspective, overcoming obstacles or gaining confidence, World Challenge builds the life skills young people need to live a life of courage, kindness and adventure. Today we are 30 years young, proudly travelling to over 40 destinations with over 8,000 students every year.
We’re not shy in saying we lead the way in safety, quality, ethical community engagement and learning outcomes. We believe in the value of what we do, it’s why we’re still here, it’s why we plan on sticking around a whole lot longer.
We are a business driven by our people and want to build something we can be proud of. We’ve come a long way and together we’re going places. Our people are an extension of our values, so you’ll find nothing less than a truly committed, passionate, smart and entrepreneurial team here.
Setting the tone from the top, adventure runs in Pete’s blood, so does family. Pete helped establish World Challenge in Australia over ten years ago and after taking time out to complete an unassisted row across the Atlantic in 2015, Pete’s been steering our ship.
A former paramedic, who grew up in Kenya, Kathryn went on to run a surf centre, take advantage of travelling the world as a tour leader and head up expedition operations for a charity. She's also super hot on animal welfare and a trustee for a school charity in Kenya, making her our perfect mix.
As an expedition leader and intrepid adventurer himself, Joe’s boundless enthusiasm for travel is infectious, even in a programme meeting at 4pm on a Tuesday after school. As a Bristolian, he also knows what’s important in life from cycling to coffee and how to choose your perfect destination, from Namibia to Nepal.
