Who we are
Proud of our peopleGet in touch
We were born in a rural village in the distant snow-capped mountains of Pakistan. Back in 1985 a young army captain took a team of soldiers overseas on a training mission in the remote Hindu Kush range. It wasn’t long before he realized that the personal development and camaraderie learned there would shape them all for years to come. He brought the blueprint back and World Challenge was born, founding the schools expedition industry.
Whether it’s about finding perspective, overcoming obstacles or gaining confidence, World Challenge builds the life skills young people need to live a life of courage, kindness and adventure. Today we are 30 years young, proudly travelling to over 40 destinations with over 8,000 students every year.
We’re not shy in saying we lead the way in safety, quality, ethical community engagement and learning outcomes. We believe in the value of what we do, it’s why we’re still here, it’s why we plan on sticking around a whole lot longer.
We are a business driven by our people and want to build something we can be proud of. We’ve come a long way and together we’re going places. Our people are an extension of our values, so you’ll find nothing less than a truly committed, passionate, smart and entrepreneurial team here.
Born in South Africa, Tamin grew up studying in Malaysia and Australia before exploring more of the world as a competitive international swimmer, school teacher and adventurer. Travel has left a deep impression on Tamin, driving a commitment to give the same opportunities to as many South African students as she can.
Tony was previously an Expedition Leader for us, specialising in anything ‘jungle’. As the co-founder of the adventure clothing brand Montane, we were lucky enough to snap up Tony over twenty years ago. If Tony's not travelling, you'll find him watching Man United.
Our very own former marine, now expedition leader, triathlon running, multi-hat superhero, the Middle East has been Phil's home for nearly a decade. Swapping the Scottish mountains for the desert hasn’t stopped Phil from leading our teams and with over 30 expeditions and 20 years with World Challenge under his belt, you’re in extremely experienced hands.
Isabella is our very own Scandinavian star, ready to embrace the weather from freezing temperatures in Finland to the heat of the desert in Dubai. Having grown up through the international school scene herself and lived in 11 countries, Isabella is brilliantly placed to support our schools in the Middle East.
Hailing from Ireland, Victoria swapped lush, green mountainous for the skies, working as Emirates flight crew before settling in the UAE. Victoria has worked for a number of children’s charities and brings her compassion and Irish charm into our Dubai office, where she supports guardians and parents in the build up to departure.
Behind a calm composure is a world of eclectic experience. Jonathon has mastered many trades from large scale event production to raft guiding. Inspired by what he saw at World Challenge, Jonathon earned his mountain leader qualification and now leads teams overseas as well as looking after our schools back home on South African soil.
