Explore Tanzania

Thoughts of Tanzania conjure landscapes of wild game roaming on safari savannah plains, trekkers summit-bound for snow-capped peaks and ultimate relaxation on idyllic islands. Your expedition could take you to the mighty summit of Africa’s highest mountain, Mt Kilimanjaro, or to the stunning white sands of Zanzibar. Go north for a circuit of iconic highlights or head south to get off the trail.

Find alternatives to every icon, climb Kilimanjaro’s little sister Mt Meru, or head south to the forested slopes of dormant volcano Mt Rungwe and look out over the shores of Lake Victoria. Tanzania is a Mecca for big-game watching, whether on the plains of the Serengeti, in the bowl of the Ngorongoro Crater or the less-trodden region of Ruaha National Park. The choice is yours.

Climb the roof of Africa

Summit the world’s highest free-standing mountain at 5,895 meters. It is also one of the world’s most iconic peaks and let’s face it, is on most peoples’ bucket list! Ascend five different climatic zones, from tropical forest to snowy peaks. Climbing the roof of Africa will create memories that last a lifetime.

Become a masterchef

Nina njaa sana! If you’re hungry it’s time to meet a local mama, haggle in the food markets and learn how to cook Swahili style. Try the national maize dish Ugali and make delicious traditional meat skewers, Nyama Choma. Don’t be surprised to see more familiar pilau rice, chapattis and fish on the menu too.

Hear wild game roar

Choose to safari at the Northern icon and wonder of the world, the Ngorongoro Crater, set out to spot tree-climbing lions at Lake Manyara or go south for the untapped and elephant rich Ruaha National Park. Wherever you go, head deep into wild game territory on safari and spot the big five.

Kick back in Zanzibar

Anchored in history, with Arab rulers, Portuguese traders, European colonizers and Indian workers, Zanzibar is a cosmopolitan hotspot. Relax on pristine, white sandy beaches, snorkel off the coral reef or get lost exploring the back streets of Stone Town.
