Explore Nicaragua

Less developed than it’s adventure-packed neighbour Costa Rica, you come to Nicaragua to get off the tourist trail and explore some hidden gems. Take on 5 volcanoes in 5 days and after you have summited  the iconic jet black peak enjoy the adrenaline as you volcano board down. Bet you haven’t tried stand up paddle boarding in the lake of an extinct volcano crater either, so put it on the list. Embrace the hike up to a tropical viewpoint that has you standing in Nicaragua with views into El Salvador and Honduras.

Team up with local conservation efforts to help protect turtles or caiman crocodiles or immerse yourself in the efforts of rural communities to improve their quality of education. Either way, Nicaraguan culture will embrace you and charm you with it’s beautiful Spanish architecture and warm hospitality.

What happens on expedition

Build your adventure

Climb to Nicaragua’s highest point

Scale Mogotón at 2,107m and celebrate by putting one foot in Honduras. On paper it might not seem a mighty mountain but the track will weave you through the heat of the cloud forest, past gushing waterfalls and up steep slopes to earn your reward.

Soar down a volcano

Surely the only place in the world where you can summit a volcano then reach its base two minutes later. Embrace the utility suits and goggles as you prepare to whizz down volcanic heights at speed.

Paddle a crater

See some scenery from a different perspective as you head out on a stand-up paddleboard in the crater of an extinct volcano. Not many people can put that on their hit list.

Take on the five volcano challenge

One volcano every day, for five days culminating in a sunrise summit to round off this amazing experience. Nicaragua is home to over 20 volcanoes and you’re taking on a quarter of them on this epic hike that will test your endurance and reward you with memories of sunrises, sweaty ascents and swift descents on volcano boards.

"We chose to do volcano boarding on the third day of our trek and I am so glad we did! It’s not something you can do everyday."
